Welcome to Photography Workshops International.

This international media institution, founded by one of photography’s leading educators, David H. Lyman, offers creative learning vacations, professional workshops and master classes for the world’s storytellers: photographers and photojournalists, filmmakers, media professionals and serious amateurs. These short intensive, total immersion career courses are conducted in amazing locations throughout the world. Our mission is to help you develop your personal and professional career, as you master the technology, develop command over the process and become aware of your gifts and passion as a storyteller. We specialize in workshops in digital photography, video, multi-media and traditional filmmaking, as well as the written word.  Join one of these life-changing adventures and work with one of our inspirational faculty members, each a recognized master in their respected field. You will be among a small group of like-minded and passionate image-makers: working  and emerging professionals, committed amateurs, college majors and professionals from other fields.

With 34 years of experience in media education, Workshops International has a unique philosophy that provides a life-enhancing learning environment.

• Our faculty includes many of the world’s leading photographic artists and filmmakers, each a knowledgeable mentor and nurturing teacher.

• Our workshops develop each photographer’s technical skills, along with their visual awareness, careers and personal journey as a creative artist.

• Each workshop is a adventure into a new culture, providing  in-depth exploration of a people, their landscape, architecture, art and lives.

• We spend quality time in each location, so you can develop a personal body of work.

• At the core of each workshops is the sharing our discoveries and work, through books, multimedia presentations, video documentaries and on-line galleries. 

• Enrollment is limited, usually no more than  12 to 14 committed photographers and filmmakers per workshop.

• We follow-up each workshop with continued mentoring, and the publishing of participant’s work from each workshop.

The Future

We will be adding more exciting learning adventures and programs in the months ahead. We will also be sharing our research and discoveries into the world of creativity in David’s weekly blog. We are editing video clips right now, and will be including insightful tips, technical clinics and advise from our faculty. A forum will give you the opportunity to join the discussions, and we will be showcasing participants creative projects that result from each workshop.
