"This is the most important course a film, television or stage director can take."
Many Directors are technically skilled but have little idea of how to deal with the actor. This workshop explores that relationship, from the inside. Barry Primus has helped hundreds of directors develop a deeper appreciation for and understanding of the actor's craft, their psychology and skills in order to obtain superior performances from their cast. During this intensive, hands-on workshop you will explore the actor's craft, emotional life, techniques, concerns and especially the actor's needs and problems. Through scene study, improvisation, exercises and script analysis, we'll demystify the actor's craft and develop a range of techniques that will prove invaluable to directors. You will master the tools, techniques and principles that you can use immediately in auditions, casting, rehearsals and on the set. Learn what to look for, and how to structure performances in order to tell the story. Learn how to communicate and collaborate with the actors at all stages of a film production. "If there was one workshop every director should take . . . this is it!"
